| In the photo to the left, you see Winterbear sporting a jaunty hand knit touque of handspun yarn. It is dyed a bright red using cochineal, a natural dye prized for its brightness and colorfastness. The touque is in the voyageur style: a sack with a drawstring gathered and pushed in to form the hat, rather than the commonly seen watch-cap style with a ribbed edge folded up. These touques are available in just about any color of mill-spun yarn, and we can custom make one of handspun, naturally dyed yarn if you choose. |
| We offer hand dyed scarves 36" square of 100% silk. These are available in a wide range of naturally dyed colors: cochineal red, logwood purple, indigo blue and various greens and yellows. $15.00 each. Pictures are on the way, or you can email us for availability. We will also try to custom-dye to match your clothing. Due to the natural dye process, colors are often uneven, giving a mottled appearance which in our opinion adds distinction to the scarf. |
